The students’ council in Mercy Secondary School, which has been in existence since 1997, plays a very active role in the life of the school. All year groups, with the exception of first year, are represented on the council. Following the receipt of three, supporting-teacher signatures on their nomination paper, students can put themselves forward as an election candidate. Candidates are elected to the council by their peers.
